LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Families of American hostages held captive overseas pleaded to lawmakers on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, begging for their safe return home.

One of those family members to speak before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Anna Corbett, spoke about her husband, Ryan Corbett, who remains in captivity by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Ryan Corbett, whose father lives in Louisville, moved to Afghanistan with his wife and children in 2010, starting a company to help Afghans start their own businesses. After the U.S. military withdrawal in 2021, Corbett returned to the country with the encouragement of the Taliban. He was taken hostage by the Taliban on Aug. 10, 2022.
